Electrical upgrade and modifications for 47 Apartments

Scope of project

The scope of works included ongoing electrical upgrades for the apartment block and the mandatory compliance services.  An upgrade to the incoming electrical supply, new mains distribution, sub-mains distribution and metering was required for the new installations. The new lighting installation included emergency lighting, external lighting with motion sensors and small power services. We installed a new fire alarm and security system which also included intruder alarm, access control and CCTV. We also installed 47 flat screen LED TV’s for each apartment on mobile angle brackets. The compliance services consisted of EICR fixed-wire testing and 3-hour emergency light testing on existing installations within the development.

Building and Fabric works

Redlands was instructed to carry out all fire-stopping tasks associated with the new installations as well as decorations to the ceilings and walls throughout the apartments. We also carried out remedial decorations in the communal areas where the security and fire alarm installations were made.

Challenges

Harrington Court was a fully occupied apartment block, so we deployed the services of a liaison officer to communicate with the residents on our behalf. Working times in the apartments were agreed when the occupants were either at work or away.
