Electrical compliance testing, remedials and modifications

Scope of project

Surbiton High School is comprised of several separate buildings in its estate where there is a requirement to carry out any modifications both to the electrical and mechanical infrastructure deemed necessary.  Fixed wire testing and inspection is also carried out as part of the organisation’s statutory responsibilities.  Due to the consequence of the fixed wire inspection and testing, remedial work is often detailed which includes board upgrades with RCD protection, fault finding and modifications to essential electrical services.

The improvements or modification work consists of general small power supplies, lighting installation including controls systems, addressable emergency lighting system, structured IT wiring, fire alarm systems, mains distribution alterations and additions, main mechanical plant supplies and control panels. Features include LED lighting in lecture rooms and sports hall and much improved operational areas. The installation of energy saving lighting was undertaken with the building in full operation.

Fabric work

Redlands was nominated to undertake FRA works after a thorough fire assessment was undertaken throughout the estate. The scope of works included the full replacement of several FD30 and FD60 doors and various modifications on the rest of the doors. These included items such as intumescent strips, door closers and stops. We also carried out vision panel replacements where necessary and replaced the door furniture where it was deemed non-compliant.
