Scope of project
Redlands was engaged as principal contractor to act on an improvement report on the condition of the fire-door sets within the school. We ordered x 22 no FD30 door-sets in an Ash finish. The doors were all bespoke and fitted with vision panels and fire-rated glass. New fire-rated furniture and closers were also fitted along with the intumescent strips and smoke seals that we fitted into the routing channels. All doors were fitted with automatic releases and were triggered by the detection of smoke or the activation of an alarm from a manual call point.
Challenges
Stringent H&S and safe site set-up procedures were implemented within this school. A programme of works was circulated and agreed with all staff so they could minimise disruption to the students with systems of traffic being implemented so working areas could be avoided.
