Scope of project
Redlands was nominated by the client as the M&E contractor on this summer works refurbishment project. The scope of works included the supply and installation of distribution boards for the new power requirements, lighting throughout the workshops which included 600 x 600 LED panels and self-test emergency lighting. Redlands supplied and installed a total of 110 transformers and commando sockets to supply the connections to the work booths for the students. The construction tasks comprised of new mechanical installations, with supplies to mechanical plant. Ventilation and dust extract system were also installed into the new-build workshops.
Challenges
Redlands was instructed to carry out this project on a fastrack programme as the new term was fast approaching and a full cohort of students were already enlisted for the courses. There was a multitude of trades working in one area, so the organisation of the tasks had to be well-timed. It was vitally important that the client and contractor were in constant communication as the project requirements changed on a regular basis.
