Scope of project
Railton, Build and Stone was appointed as principal contractor and is also engaged in providing both electrical and mechanical services for the Sunkick project. Redlands was named as nominated contractor for the electrical and mechanical works. The scope of works included the installation of LED lighting throughout the conference facility along with a new addressable self-test emergency lighting system. The electrical works also included the full rewire and new containment of the lighting systems. The contract also included elements of mechanical services. This included the supply and installation of LPHW pumps, chiller and air conditioning upgrades for the main conference theatre.
Challenges
Stringent H&S and safe site set-up procedures were implemented within this busy operational building. The programme of works included multiple work tasks in one area, so strict rules and working conditions were applied. The conferencing facilities were fully booked, so a fastrack out of hours programme was implemented for the installation of the air conditioning.
