LED light fitting upgrade
Scope of the Project
The Redlands team successfully completed an LED lighting upgrade involving the replacement of 93 light fittings at Goods Way, King’s Cross. Working in partnership with CBRE and within Network Rail’s operational environment, the project required detailed planning and strict adherence to the highest health and safety standards throughout.
The upgrade was carried out to improve lighting efficiency, reliability and overall energy performance within the area while maintaining full operational functionality of the site.
Challenges
Due to the project being located within a busy transport and commercial hub, the team had to carefully manage high levels of pedestrian movement throughout the works while maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
In addition, all works carried out within Network Rail’s operational boundary were required to comply fully with Network Rail regulations and industry specific health and safety procedures.
As the works took place within an active loading bay area, the programme also had to be carefully coordinated around the constant ingress and egress of large commercial vehicles to ensure the loading bay remained operational throughout the project.
Another key challenge was the sloped ramp access within the loading bay, which required specialist equipment capable of operating safely on uneven surfaces. To overcome this, we utilised modern self levelling cherry pickers to ensure full compliance with both health and safety requirements and Network Rail operational standards.
